Boston Public Library removes late fees for patrons.

July 1, 2021

Of the library’s 390,000 card holders, some 42,000 are currently facing fines. According to BPL president David Leonard, “We have always believed that as a public library, our services should be ‘Free to All.” However, patrons with too many overdue books will lose their borrowing privileges and will still be responsible for paying for replacing lost books.
